While most of his peers have remained mum in the wake of R. Kelly’s sex “cult” allegations, Vic Mensa is publicly admonishing the controversial R&B superstar, who hails from his hometown.
When asked about Kelly, the Chicago rapper told TMZ, “Fuck R. Kelly,” while adding, “R. Kelly is a scumbag and a very dirty man. He needs to be locked away forever.”

Mensa — who just released his debut album The Autobiography — echoed these sentiments on Twitter. “let’s be honest,” he wrote. “it’s time R Kelly went to prison for a long time.” Later, he added: “i don’t have homies that abuse underage girls if i did we wouldn’t be homies.”
Vic’s comments arrive on the heels of a new report regarding R. Kelly’s alleged mistreatment of women. This month, three former members of the singer’s inner circle claimed he holds women against their will in a “cult.” Kelly has denied the allegations and has continued touring.

But this isn’t the first time that Kelly has faced accusations like this. In 1994, when the singer was 27, he reportedly married a then-15-year-old Aaliyah with a falsified marriage license, which lied about her age. The marriage was annulled the following month. Since then, several women have sued and accused him of using his stature in the music business to engage in sexual relationships.
In 2008, Kelly was acquitted on 14 charges of making child pornography in a case that centered around a video tape, which allegedly showed him having sex with a 14-year-old girl.
During his latest TMZ interview, Mensa was also asked about Justin Bieber, who recently canceled the rest of the “Purpose World Tour,” which Mensa was scheduled to appear on. The singer nixed the trek due to exhaustion and, some say, because of a newfound dedication to religion.
Although members of Bieber’s camp were reportedly upset about the last-minute cancelation and its financial implications, Vic didn’t seem to harbor any ill will, saying he understood where the pop superstar was coming from.
“People want to make money, but at the end of the day, we’re people and shit,” he said. “Bieber’s been on tour for, what, like two-and-a-half years straight, touring the same album? That could be exhausting. I’ve been there before, in a place where everybody’s telling me I should go to this place and I already booked it and I just can’t do it. I’ve canceled shit before, so I gotta understand where he coming from.”
