DMX had a brush with death. The hip-hop superstar was found unresponsive and not breathing in Yonkers, New York on Monday (Feb. 8).
According to TMZ, police officers responded to a call about an unconscious male at a Ramada Inn around 6 p.m. When cops arrived, they found DMX on the ground in the parking lot. He reportedly had no pulse, but police officers managed to get the “Party Up” rapper breathing again after a minute of CPR.
The cause of the collapse is unclear. A witness told police that X ingested a powder before falling. While signs point to a drug overdose, family members claim it was an asthma attack.
The 45-year-old, who’s been open about addiction struggles in the past, also denies taking drugs before the incident. He claims breathing issues followed a bout with bronchitis.
DMX remains in the hospital and appears to be in stable condition.
