Lil Wayne’s Lil Weezyana Fest is returning to New Orleans for another massive event. On Wednesday (Sept. 3), the “Lollipop” rapper announced the 2024 lineup, leaving fans thrilled to learn that he will reunite with Hot Boys — comprised of himself, Juvenile, B.G. and Turk — at the Smoothie King Center on Nov. 2.
Other acts slated to take the stage include Mannie Fresh, who will be doing a special DJ set, and Rob49, who collaborated with Lil Wayne on “Wassam Baby” in January. Per the flyer, there will be surprise guests to make up for the relatively short bill.
“Lil Wayne embodies the spirit of New Orleans, and Lil Weezyana Fest is a stellar showcase of the city’s dynamic and flourishing music scene,” Live Nation Urban’s Brandon Pankey said, per Variety. “Live Nation Urban celebrates this amazing event and is proud to continue to partner and cultivate the growth of this festival for years to come.”
Hot Boys released three albums over the course of the group’s career: Get It How U Live!!, Guerrilla Warfare and Let Em’ Burn. The second-mentioned offering contained classics like “I Need A Hot Girl” featuring Big Tymers, “We On Fire” and “Respect My Mind.”
During a sit-down with YG for the “4HUNNID Podcast,” Lil Wayne teased that a reunion was certainly in the cards, even in light of its members beefing. “I think we spoke about it a few times, but you know they have situations — like B.G. just coming home. So, he gotta work it out: Can he tour? Can he travel? You know what I mean, things like that,” the FWA creator said. “You know [Juvenile is] ready and Turk [is] ready, but we really gotta see if Geezy can move around and all that.”
The group’s homecoming was largely delayed due to B.G.’s 14-year prison sentence for gun possession and witness tampering. He was released to a warm welcome from the Hip Hop community in 2023. It’s also worth mentioning that the following year, he dissed Lil Wayne on “Gangsta Vybes (Gangstafied)”: “My n**ga Weezy is steady touring, but he’s a b**ch and it’s showing.”
