As it relates to the new generation of female rap stars, hypersexualization always seems to be part of the conversation. While some point fingers at record labels attempting to boost sales, GloRilla insisted that she’s calling the shots herself.

On Wednesday (Aug. 28) night, during an Instagram Live, she addressed a clip of herself dancing topless to her, Skilla Baby and Rob49’s “Mama (Remix).” The Memphis native explained, “Let me tell you b**ches something: Y’all had so much to say because I was dancing to my song [and] holding my titties. Don’t worry about what me and my titties [are] doing. B**ch, I bought them.”

“The label ain’t making me do s**t,” she emphasized before adding, “A h** gon’ be a h**. Y’all just be swearing motherf**kers make motherf**kers do s**t. Everything I do, I [actually want] to do it. Y’all just [have] to learn to mind your business sometimes.”

As for her reasoning, GloRilla noted, “It ain’t about no label making me do s**t. It’s about me looking for some h**s.”

GloRilla’s body image has been a point of discussion ever since her breakout hit, “F.N.F (Let’s Go).” In 2023, she opened up about her breast augmentation. “Y’all know I ain’t with that overboard s**t. These [are just] a lil’ fill-in. [I] just filled them in. They ain’t nothing too outrageous,” the artist revealed.

On the music front, GloRilla dropped Ehhthang Ehhthang in April. The 12-track effort contained contributions from Kevo Muney, Boston Richey, Moneybagg Yo, and Finesse2Tymes, among others. Standout cuts “Yeah Glo!” and “Wanna Be” with Megan Thee Stallion both managed to land on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

In June, the Collective Music Group rapper debuted “TGIF,” which got a major co-sign from Rihanna. GloRilla is expected to perform the song at the 2024 MTV VMAs in September.
