It’s Virgo season! The sixth zodiac sign slots in right after Leo’s roar and before Libra’s balance. Symbolized by the maiden, its reign kicks off on Aug. 23 and wraps up on Sept. 22 each year.
Excellence is just the baseline for Virgos, given their hardworking and perfectionist qualities. Take superstars and legends like Beyoncé, Brent Faiyaz and even the late Michael Jackson, for example. It’s also worth mentioning that their relentless pursuit often comes with its own set of challenges, including a hefty dose of self-imposed pressure, overthinking and being easily annoyed.

1. Beyonce
Not only is Beyoncé one of the most recognizable pop stars worldwide, but she is also unapologetically Virgo. Born on Sept. 4, 1981, the singer has referenced her zodiac on numerous records: “Gift from Virgo” and “Signs” from Dangerously In Love and “VIRGO’S GROOVE,” which appeared on 2022’s RENAISSANCE. To celebrate her 42nd birthday and Virgo season, she notably asked fans to wear silver at her concerts.
Speaking on her zodiac traits, Beyoncé told Harper’s Bazaar, “A lot of who I am is reserved for the people I love and trust. Those who don’t know me and have never met me might interpret that as being closed off. Trust [me], the reason those folks don’t see certain things about me is because my Virgo a** does not want them to see it… It’s not because it doesn’t exist!”
2. Brent Faiyaz
Much like in Hip Hop, men in contemporary R&B have seemingly taken a backseat to let the ladies shine, with only a handful breaking through the noise. Among those artists is Faiyaz, who was born on Sept. 19, 1995. He first caught everyone’s attention with his silky chorus on GoldLink’s “Crew,” then quickly established himself as an equally talented solo act. Through F**k The World and WASTELAND, his talent couldn’t be any more evident in standout cuts like “Clouded,” “DEAD MAN WALKING” and “Been Away.”
“Sometimes I’m curious to know whether we truly are defined by our zodiac signs, or whether we all exhibit traits that everybody exhibits, and we learn our zodiac sign, and we conform to whatever our sign is,” Faiyaz said in an interview with Rolling Stone.
3. August Alsina
August Alsina’s run in the 2010s was legendary, to say the least. He skyrocketed into popularity with “I Luv This S**t,” then kept the momentum going with “Ghetto” and the Nicki Minaj-assisted “No Love (Remix),” among other hits. He was born on Sept. 3, 1992, and in a true Virgo nature, pursues perfection in his work.
4. Muni Long
Before the world knew her as Muni Long, Priscilla Renea Hamilton wrote songs for some of pop and R&B’s favorite artists. Born on Sept. 14, 1988, she saw major success with the TikTok-viral “Hrs & Hrs” and repeated the accomplishment once more with 2023’s “Made For Me.” Long’s projects are just as impressive as her viral feats. For example, her major label debut album, Public Displays Of Affection: The Album, housed love-fueled efforts like “Baby Boo” with Saweetie and the Ann Marie-assisted “No R&B.”

5. Jason Derulo
Within a roughly two-decade-long career, Jason Derulo has smashed through several major milestones. The Florida native, who came into the world on Sept. 21, 1989, got his start penning songs for the big leagues before his own breakout hit, "Whatcha Say" in 2009. Since his debut, the multi-platinum artist has led a non-stop parade of bangers, including “Ridin' Solo,” the 2 Chainz-assisted “Talk Dirty,” the Snoop Dogg-assisted “Wiggle” and “Swalla” with Minaj and Ty Dolla Sign. Derulo embodies the Virgo spirit: meticulous and inventive, both of which clearly fuel his chart-topping career.
6. Keke Palmer
If there’s anyone who embodies the hardworking, creative and intellectual traits of Virgos, it’s Keke Palmer. Her acting breakthrough came in the form of 2006’s Akeelah and the Bee, followed by her studio debut, So Uncool, the next year. Between early works like “Change It Up” and her later singles “Reverse Psychology” and “Bossy,” the Illinois native is the definition of multifaceted. Palmer celebrates her birthday on Aug. 26.
