Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker entered the footwear industry with his first signature sneaker, the Nike Book 1. During an appearance on Complex’s “Sneaker Shopping” today (Oct. 23), the NBA player described the shoe and his reaction to seeing celebrities wearing it.

The lifestyle-basketball hybrid gained notable attention when Drake wore its orange colorway during a concert in Arizona. The specific variant is scheduled for a holiday 2023 release, retailing at $150. Currently, the official launch date and technical specifications remain undisclosed.

Toward the end of his Complex interview, host Joe La Puma asked Booker about its name-worthy endorsements.

“I don’t know if you’ve seen my social posts, [but] Nike does this thing called focus groups where, you know, they’ll bring it to kids in certain cities and see the initial reaction of it without any logos on it,” Booker replied. “Those three videos I posted [were made within] one week of time… J. Cole, Chris Gibbs over there at Union [LA], and finally, the Drake thing was just a dream at first.”

He continued, “It kind of lined up when his tour first released, and I ran it by him, and he was all for it. Now he’s five shows in, too. He’s still wearing it.”

Over the years, Drake also collaborated with Nike on a number of sneaker silhouettes. The pair debuted the NOCTA Glide on Sept. 15, inspired by the Air Zoom Flight ’95. In 2022, the rapper got his own iteration of the Air Force 1 to commemorate the release of Certified Lover Boy.

In recent news, the Toronto native unveiled his eighth studio album, For All The Dogs, on Oct. 6. The 23-song offering contains features from Lil Yachty, Sexyy Red, Chief Keef, PARTYNEXTDOOR, SZA, Yeat, and several others.

Interestingly, Drake name-dropped another NBA player on its standout cut, “Another Late Night.” In the song, he rapped, “Shawty rinsin’ Dillon Brooks, can’t believe this n**ga talkin’, d**n. My bank account is Magnolia, Milly rockin’.”
