Lil Uzi Vert is coming to Jack Harlow’s defense.
The “XO Tour Llif3” rapper was in Hollywood when he jumped on the TMZ tour bus. In between taking pictures and FaceTiming with fans, Uzi was asked about claims that the “First Class” rapper, who is signed to the same label as Uzi, is benefiting from white privilege.
“Do you think he deserves all this hate?” asked the TMZ reporter.
But Uzi was quick to defend his Generation Now labelmate. “No, he’s really good,” he responded.
When the woman claimed that “white privilege” played a part in Harlow’s success, Uzi shot down the suggestion. “No, he doesn’t have white privilege,” he said before adding, “He’s signed to Black people.”
Uzi and Harlow are both signed to Generation Now, the label started by DJ Drama and Don Cannon.
While the two are friends today, they were not always on good terms. Back in 2019, when Uzi was having issues with his label, he mocked Harlow and DJ Drama by placing a clown emoji over Harlow’s face, according to HotNewHipHop.
Despite his critics, Harlow continues to enjoy success. His sophomore album Come Home the Kids Miss You debuted a No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and spawned the chart-topping hit “First Class.”
