Snootie Wild was killed in a shooting in Houston.

The 36-year-old Memphis rapper, born LePreston Porter, died from his injuries after being gunned down Friday.

His death was announced Saturday night on his official Instagram page: “Gone in body, but your NAME & LEGACY will live forever! 💙 #TeamYayo4Life💯.”

An earlier message on his Facebook page said that Wild was still alive and “fighting for his life.”

According to ABC 13, Wild was shot in the neck and discovered in a ditch next to an SUV. Police arrived at the scene around 2 a.m. after responding to their Shotspotter Program, which detects gunshots around Houston.

“It looks like he backed in there [the ditch] accidentally. Then the other vehicle pulled up, and folks got out of the car. They were talking for a little bit, and then all of a sudden, gunfire went off. Only one shot, actually,” said officer R. Willkens.

After receiving CPR at the scene, Wild was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but doctors were unable to save him.

Police surrounded the neighborhood searching for a man and woman they believed to be the suspects.

The hip-hop community mourned the loss including Boosie Badazz, Three 6 Mafia’s DJ Paul, and Sonny Digital.

In 2013, Wild signed to Yo Gotti’s CMG imprint on Epic Records where he released his 2014 EP Go Mode featuring Gotti, K CAMP, and August Alsina.

The shooting comes just three months after Young Dolph, who had a long-running feud with Gotti, was shot and killed outside a bakery in Memphis. Three people have been arrested, but Gotti was not implicated.
