Nicki Minaj may be ready to get in the Verzuz ring.
While promoting her upcoming single “Do We Have a Problem?” on Houston’s 97.9 The Box, the rap queen was asked whether she would entertain a Verzuz battle.
The host suggested that Drake or Lil Wayne would be the only qualified rappers to against her, but Nicki didn’t seem to agree. “Drake and Wayne have so many bonafide hip-hop hits, so I don’t know,” she said before suggesting a female competitor.
“But I do think there might be a female or two…” she continued.
She admitted that there have been discussions about a potential Verzuz. “There were talking to me about it. And look, if it’s gonna be fun, then you never know,” she said. “It should feel like a celebration. That’s exactly what I would like it to feel like.”
One name that has been thrown around is Lil’ Kim. While the two have had a rivalry that dates back to 2007, the Queen Bee revealed that she would be down to battle Nicki in Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s matchup series.
“Is there anybody you would do it against?” DJ Envy asked Kim at the BET Awards last year. “Nicki,” she responded without hesitation.
“I would love to see that,” said Envy to which Kim replied, “Yes, me too.”
Verzuz has only featured one female rap battle when Eve and Trina faced off last June.
On Friday, Nicki is set to return with her new single “Do We Have a Problem?” featuring Lil Baby. She shared a cinematic trailer for the music video featuring cameos from Cory Hardict and Joseph Sikora.
