One day before her Las Vegas residency was set to kick off, Adele has announced that she has had to postpone all dates.
In an emotional video, shared on Twitter, a teary-eyed Adele revealed that a last-minute decision was made to delay the show because it wasn’t ready in time.
“I’m so sorry, but my show ain’t ready,” she told her fans. “We’ve tried absolutely everything that we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you, but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and COVID.”
Half her crew tested positive for COVID-19, causing major disruptions. “It’s been impossible to finish the show. And I can’t give you what I have right now and I’m gutted. And I’m so sorry it’s last minute,” she continued.
The residency, titled “Weekends With Adele,” was set to begin Friday, Jan. 21 at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace and run through April 16. Tickets for the 24 shows sold out minutes after they went on sale last month.
Adele profusely apologized to her fans who traveled to see her this weekend. “I’m so upset and I’m really embarrassed and I’m so sorry to everyone that traveled again,” she added. “I’m really, really sorry. I’m really sorry.”
She and her team are already working to reschedule all the dates and more information will be released soon.
“I’m gonna finish my show and I’m gonna get it to where it’s supposed to be,” she said. “It’s impossible. We’ve been up against so much and it just ain’t ready.”
