August Alsina’s days in the music industry may be numbered.

The R&B singer took to Instagram on Monday (Sept. 20) to announce that he is “likely” retiring from music. In a message to his fans, he revealed that he intends to release a couple more projects before stepping away from the spotlight.

“These last couple projects are likely to be the last you see/hear of August Alsina,” he wrote.

But before he calls it quits, he plans to take one “last victory lap.” “W/ that said, it is my hope that we can enjoy each other while I’m here, on my last victory lap around the sun,” he added. “I’ll strive to make it as nostalgic as possible for you w/ beautiful tunes & high vibes.”

August also gave fans a taste of what’s to come by previewing a brand new song.

In June of 2020, August released his album The Product III: State of Emergency, which featured Lil Wayne, Yo Gotti, and Juicy J. He has also been candid about his private life, including his “entanglement” with Jada Pinkett Smith and his battle with an autoimmune disorder, which temporarily paralyzed him.
