Fetty Wap is opening up about the recent death of his daughter.
The “My Way” rapper broke down while mourning Lauren Maxwell, his 4-year-old with Turquoise Miami. While going live on Instagram, an emotional Fetty held up a photo of his daughter, who he called his “little twin.”
“Thank y’all. Appreciate y’all,” he said while wiping away tears.
He also asked his followers to post butterfly emojis in her honor. “Damn. That’s love. She’d be happy as hell,” added Fetty. “Shawty loved butterflies.”
Over the weekend, Turquoise announced that Lauren had passed away. She reportedly died in June and the cause of death is unclear.
“This is my amazing ,beautiful , funny , vibrant, loving ,talented , smart and hardheaded princess mermaid Aquarius,” she wrote alongside a video of her daughter in the pool. “If you see this post scrolling by with her comment or just say to yourself ‘ i love you LAUREN ‘ because they say that souls can feel your love #rip.”
Turquoise also urged her followers to show more compassion towards the grieving father. “It couldn’t hurt Some of y’all to be a little bit more compassionate, you don’t have to kick a man while he’s down,” she said of Fetty.
The father of six dedicated his performance at last month’s Rolling Loud to his baby girl. “LoLo daddy did that shit for you last night baby girl,” he said following his set at the Miami festival.
It’s been a heartbreaking year for Fetty, whose 26-year-old brother, Twyshon Depew, was shot and killed in New Jersey in October.
