King Von has died following a shootout in Atlanta. He was 26.

The Chicago rapper was killed by gunfire outside the Monaco Hookah Lounge in downtown Atlanta on Friday morning (Nov. 6). According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the officer-involved shooting started around 3 a.m. Friday after an argument between two groups turned violent in the parking lot.

TMZ reports that six people were shot and three died from their wounds, including King Von. Two off-duty police officers who were working at the club attempted to intervene but were not injured. It’s unclear who shot King Von, but the shooting is now being investigated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Atlanta Police Homicide.

A member of King Von’s crew, Chopsquad DJ, confirmed that Von was among the victims. “My heart can’t take this. No bro. Why you. Why bro. Please just FaceTime me bro. Why they had to take you,” he wrote on Instagram Friday. “RIP my Bestfriend.”

Just last week, Von released his debut album, Welcome to O’Block, featuring appearances from Moneybagg Yo, Polo G, Dreezy, and his mentor Lil Durk, who signed him to his Only the Family label. The project reached No. 2 on Apple Music’s all-genre album charts (behind Ariana Grande).

The hip-hop community took to social media to pay tribute to King Von and mourn his passing including his ex-girlfriend Asian Doll, who tweeted, “I wanna die 2 Shid it feel like I’m dead already.”
