Kim Kardashian is lobbying for the release of Corey “C-Murder” Miller.

The New Orleans rapper, who is the brother of No Limit mogul Master P, was convicted in 2009 for killing a 16-year-old fan, Steve Thomas, at a nightclub in 2002. He was sentenced to life in prison at the Louisiana State Penitentiary, but has maintained his innocence for years.

Now Kim is stepping in to help. On Sunday, she announced that she is teaming up with Monica to fight for his release. “Today I’m teaming up with @MonicaDenise, @JessicaJackson and @EdyHaney to #FreeCoreyMiller,” tweeted Kim.

She argued that missteps occurred during the investigation and his trial. “The jury convicted Corey 10-2 and he was sentenced him to life in prison. If his trial was today, the jury would have had to be unanimous for him to be convicted,” tweeted Kim. “Since his trial, witnesses have recanted, new evidence of his potential innocence has come to light, and there are claims of jurors being pressured into voting to convict.”

According to WDSU, the two witnesses said in 2018 that Miller wasn’t the shooter and that they felt pressure to lie under oath. “True justice for the young man requires that the person who actually killed him be held responsible and that Corey Miller he returned home to his kids,” added Kim.

Monica, who dated Miller at the time, is also joining the fight for C-Murder’s release. “Corey deserves to come home to his girls and be the father they need, be the artist & leader he’s always been as well as spread hope to those who have also experienced this,” the singer wrote on Instagram.

A grateful C-Murder showed his appreciation to Monica. “Moses when they took me I told you go live your life because you didn’t deserve what the system was about to do to me,” he wrote. “You still stood for me, without me asking created a team that could change the outcome of a very unfair fate! You been Forever Tru , One in a Lifetime!! @monicadenise got em saying #FreeCoreyMiller.”

The 49-year-old rapper was signed to Master P’s No Limit Records in the ’90s and released hits including “Down for My N’s” featuring Snoop Dogg.

Kim continues her campaign for criminal justice reform. In 2018, she personally lobbied President Donald Trump to commute the sentence of Alice Marie Johnson, a 63-year-old first-time non-violent drug offender who was serving a life sentence on drug conspiracy and money laundering charges.
