Drake goes Dark.
Just hours after his surprise announcement, the Toronto kingpin returns with his new project Dark Lane Demo Tapes. The 14-track set, his first project in two years, consists of leaked tracks, SoundCloud drops, and new music from October’s Very Own.
In addition to his record-setting hit “Toosie Slide,” DLDT features collaborations with Chris Brown (“Not You Too”), Future and Young Thug (“D4L”), and Playboi Carti (“Pain 1993”), as well as Fivio Foreign and Sosa Geek (“Demons”) and Giveon, who appears on the previously-released “Chicago Freestyle.”
Fans may already be familiar with other leaks including the Future-assisted “Desires” and his “War” freestyle from December.
Drake also pays homage to his late friend and OVO Sound affiliate Anthony “Fif” Soares, who was murdered in 2017. Fif’s photo is featured on the back cover. “Missing you today g #foreverfif,” Drake wrote on his Instagram Story.
This is just to hold fans over until his sixth studio album, the follow-up to 2018’s Scorpion, arrives this summer. “Also my 6th STUDIO ALBUM DROPPING SUMMER 2020!!! Lucky number 6 😈 soon fwd,” said Drizzy.
