In anticipation of her upcoming album good to know, JoJo delivers the official first single “Man.”
The powerhouse songstress celebrates her independence on the empowering bop, which finds her enjoying the single life until she finds a man who can step up to the plate. In the video, directed by Marc Klasfeld, she is joined by her girlfriends including Tinashe, Ari Lennox, Francia Raisa, JoJo Gomez, and her guitarist JinJoo of DNCE.
“Well, damn / I’m gonna need a fu**ing man,” sings JoJo. “Someone who want me like a fan / I need somebody who can love me like I love me / Love me like I can, yeah.”
good to know, JoJo’s first album since 2016’s Mad Love, arrives May 1. “Man” follows the previously-released “Joanna” and the CHIKA-assisted “Sabotage,” both of which are not on the 9-track album. The R&B-infused project showcases her newfound confidence, with production from Doc McKinney, Lido, and 30 Roc.
“I called the album good to know because of everything I’ve learned in the past few years – every piece of feedback, criticism (internal or external), whatever it is – it’s all just information. And it’s all good!” said JoJo. “I’ve been lucky to have the space to reflect on my own journey up to now, and I hope people can take comfort in the fact that I am not anywhere near perfect, and I will never sugarcoat anything. We are all constantly living and learning, and that’s what makes this life so fun.”
JoJo will hit the road in support of the album on her “good to know” tour. The 22-date trek kicks off April 21 in Seattle and wraps May 30 in Minneapolis.
