Fabolous is breaking his silence on his domestic dispute with longtime girlfriend Emily B.
While promoting his new mixtape Summertime Shootout 3 on Hot 97’s “Ebro in the Morning,” the Brooklyn rapper opened up about the domestic violence case involving the mother of his two sons.
For the first time, his personal life was in the spotlight, something he wasn’t used to. “That was different for me because I’m just more to myself, even with my family and my personal life is usually handled inside,” said Loso. “It’s not really public with opinions, comments, and family members involved, and them reacting to everything.”
After the story made headlines and stirred speculation on social media, he “had to deal with it internally.” “The clarity that I was looking for was inside more than anything, because that’s the people that I have to deal with every day,” he explained. “Those are the people that I care about, that I love, that I want to make sure that they are clear on what’s going on.”
During the incident, which was captured on camera, Fabolous threatened Emily’s father while brandishing a sharp object. But according to Fab, the cell phone footage only tells one side of the story. “Looking at the video is different from being inside of it,” he said. “From the video’s point, it looks crazy. We knew what was going on in there. I’m not gonna speak and pull it out to be a story. I don’t even really like engaging in it without Emily being involved. It’s not a thing where I’m trying to excuse myself or anything of that nature.”
But the couple was able to deal with it internally. “It could of been a lot of things that was building up in our relationship within our family and I just dealt with those things. It was just about us getting back to the place that we needed to get to.”
He also apologized to fans who may have been conflicted by what they saw. “I apologize for coming across in a light that I wouldn’t want to be represented in,” he said. “It’s hard to after the fact change somebody’s opinion on seeing a video of something because people still see with their own eyes and they just make their own judgement. All I can really do is apologize for being in a light that is not showing me in my best self.”
Fabolous was arrested in March 2018 following a physical altercation with Emily B. He was indicted by a grand jury last October on one count of domestic violence with significant bodily injury, two counts of threatening to kill, and one count of possession of a weapon.
Earlier this year, he struck a plea deal in the domestic violence case and avoided jail time. The couple remains together.
