Melody Thornton is back with “Love Will Return,” her first solo track in seven years.

The cinematic ballad, a nod to her Mexican/African-American heritage and Arizona roots, serves as the lead single from the former Pussycat Doll’s upcoming solo EP, due early next year.

Produced by Thornton and Eric Zayne, the sultry song showcases the soulful siren’s powerhouse pipes while channeling the vocal stylings of Nancy Sinatra, Shirley Bassey, and Eartha Kitt, artists she idolized while growing up in Phoenix.

“The entire evolution of the song was magic,” said Thornton. “There’s just something spiritual about it. It moves me in a way like no other song I’ve written before.”

“Love Will Return” marks Thornton’s first solo music since her 2012 project POYBL. In 2017, she starred overseas in The Bodyguard musical and recently collaborated with U.K. DJ/producer Harrison on the dance track “Freak Like Me.”
