Nipsey Hussle’s birthday is next month and cops are already bracing for a huge turnout.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that the LAPD is planning a heavy presence at Nipsey’s Marathon Clothing Store on his birthday, Aug. 15.
The late rapper was beloved in his community, so police are expecting thousands of fans to show up to pay their respects. More than 100 officers will be in the area, but many won’t be in uniform because they don’t want to come off as threatening.
Hussle’s team has not announced any official plans surrounding his birthday, but cops assume it will revolve around his Marathon store, where he was shot and killed.
Thousands showed up to pay their respects at the store on Crenshaw and Slauson following Nipsey’s death on March 31. The turnout was so big that they considered shutting it down.
According to TMZ, Nipsey and his business partners were being investigated at the time of his death for alleged gang activity around his clothing store. The LAPD later said that it wasn’t specifically targeting Hussle and was trying to curb the long-standing gang problem in the area surrounding his strip mall.
