After their “Money in the Grave” collaboration, Rick Ross and Drake reunite on “Gold Roses” off Rozay’s upcoming album Port of Miami 2.
On the Rascals, Vinylz, Oz, and SykSense-produced track, the Maybach Music mogul reflects on Grammys and Xannys. “I was nominated, never won a Grammy,” he raps. “But I understand they’ll never understand me / Lotta lives lost, but I never panicked / Lotta lines crossed, I never did a Xanny.”
In addition to name checking City Girls and Kevin Durant, Drizzy sings about appreciating people while they’re still alive: “You made me this way / Before I’m gone out of this place / Put some flowers in my face / Won’t you let me know that I did OK? / Don’t wait till some other day, no no / They love to wait till it’s too late.”
Thirteen years after the original Port of Miami, Ross is set to release the highly-anticipated sequel on Aug. 9. The album has already spawned the Swizz Beatz-assisted “BIG TYME” and “Act a Fool” featuring Wale. It is also rumored to include “Maybach Music 6” featuring Pusha-T and Lil Wayne.
“Port of Miami started me on this journey,” said Ross. “It’s only right I bring it back to where it all started. For my day ones to the new ones, this album is for you. Tenth studio album. Get ready. Ride with me. It’s time.”
