21 Savage is back in Savage Mode.
The Atlanta-based rapper is readying a sequel to his 2016 collaborative mixtape with Metro Boomin. During the Los Angeles stop on his “i am > i was” tour at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall on Friday (July 19), 21 made the announcement while standing alongside the super-producer at the end of his show.
“Savage Mode 2 on the motherfu**in’ way!” he told the crowd, who erupted in cheers before he disappeared below the stage.
He also paid homage to the late Nipsey Hussle. “Los Angeles, California, I want to say R.I.P. to Nipsey Hussle,” said Savage. “We lost a real soldier.”
A sequel to Savage Mode has been rumored for a while, but the announcement is the first confirmation that it’s actually happening. The original project was released in July 2016 and debuted and peaked at No. 23 on the Billboard 200.
In the meantime, Savage has released 2017’s Without Warning, a collaboration with Metro Boomin and Offset, as well as his 2018 sophomore album I Am > I Was.
