Kulture turns one.
In honor of her daughter’s 1st birthday on Wednesday (July 10), the Grammy-winning rapper has released a snippet of a previously unheard song that didn’t make her debut album Invasion of Privacy.
Over a sample of Eve’s “Love Is Blind,” Kulture’s mother serenades her baby girl, who was born three months after her album was released. To accompany the song, she shared never-before-seen photos and video of Kulture.
“I ain’t even meet you and I love you to death / Performed live on TV, I hid you under my dress,” raps Cardi on the minute-long clip. “We did the ruffles, the fur coats, a hundred different ways / But seems like you getting larger every day.”
She goes on to address the criticism she received from people who questioned the timing of her pregnancy. “Hearing public opinions about my private decisions / And that right there is enough to drive you crazy / Complete strangers talkin’ ’bout my baby,” she raps. “Coming from people that never used to check for me / They brought opinions, but nothing off the registry / ‘Cardi, you so stupid, you gon’ ruin your career’ / I know I won’t, but if I did, I wouldn’t care.”
Adds Cardi, “I started winning when the whole world was doubting on me / Think I’ma lose with my little baby counting on me?”
She also penned a heartfelt note, thanking fans for their birthday wishes. “Thank you everybody for wishing my sweet baby a Happy Birthday,” said Cardi. “I made this song one day before I turned in my album and Eve gave me the green light for the beat I was so grateful! She a real one !”
The song didn’t end up making her album. “It didn’t make it on time tho cause as you can hear I was maaa stuffy with a terrible cold,” she revealed. “I couldn’t get it right no matter how many times I spit it 😩Even when we try to mix it u still sound stuffy . I love my baby she changed my life.”
Offset also wished his baby girl on Instagram, writing, “YOU ARE SO PERFECT LOVE YOU KK HAPPY 1st BDAY I LOVE YOU.”
To celebrate Kulture’s 1st birthday, Cardi and Offset are throwing a lavish party that is reportedly costing $400,000. They also recently gifted her with a $100,000 chain featuring the animated characters from Kulture’s favorite TV show, “Word Party.”
