We gon’ do this one for hip-hop.
YG pays tribute to Nipsey Hussle in the video for “Hard Bottoms & White Socks,” the opening track off his latest album 4REAL 4REAL. In the black-and-white scenes, the 4Hunnid boss performs in a theater to a well-dressed crowd including Machine Gun Kelly, Todd Gurley, and Kamaiyah.
Dressed in a black tux, complete with hard bottoms and white socks, YG takes the mic in between footage of him toasting with friends, riding through L.A. in his blue Lamborghini, and posing in front of a mural of Nipsey.
“I’m really West side, I catch a case for this shit,” he raps. “Let the marathon continue, it’s not a race with this shit.”
On Sunday night, YG performed “Last Time That I Checc’d” as part of a tribute to Nipsey at the BET Awards, which also featured DJ Khaled, John Legend, and Marsha Ambrosius. His album 4REAL 4REAL was released last month in memory of his late friend. A percentage of album proceeds will go to Nipsey’s two children, Emani and Kross.
“Lost for words but, We love you bro. THE MARATHON,” he recently wrote on Instagram.
