YBN Cordae connects with Chance the Rapper on “Bad Idea.”
On the nostalgic Bongo ByTheWay production, the North Carolina rapper and Chicago MC trade bars while taking inspiration from Gil Scott-Heron’s “Home Is Where the Hatred Is.”
“It has like good home vibes, good summer vibes, like good nostalgic feeling to it,” YBN told Zane Lowe on Beats 1. “But like, not in a forceful way, ’cause I feel like now everybody’s bringing back the nostalgic way, but in a force. Like, it got to come natural. This one feels real natural.”
He met up with Chance at Coachella and flew to Chicago to record the song with him. “My brother Chance did it. Killed the verse, murdered the verse. I really loved the song. It’s one of my favorite songs,” he added. “He’s one of the people that inspire me.”
YBN Cordae is now working on his upcoming project The Lost Boy, due at the end of July featuring Anderson .Paak, Meek Mill, and Pusha-T.
Chance is also readying his debut album for release in July featuring the Murda Beatz-produced single “GRoCERIES” featuring TisaKorean.
