Drake and Future’s What a Time to Be Alive 2 may be getting closer to seeing a release.
After sparking rumors of a sequel to their collaborative project earlier this year, Freebandz in-house producer ATL Jacob has added more fuel to the fire with his latest Instagram post. The story, posted at 4:20 a.m. on Wednesday, showed a photo of Jacob’s hard drive with over 20 audio files, several of which are labeled “FUT X DRA,” and are dated from May 23. There are also files labeled “FBG” aka “FreeBand Gang.”
Anticipation for the joint project continues to grow. In April, the OVO and FBG rappers sparked speculation when they took to Instagram to tease the project. “What’s that? We gotta cook that up. That two,” said Drake while holding up two fingers in the video. Future responded, “It’s already cooked. Top secret.”
Future has also wiped his Instagram account of all posts, hinting that a new project may be on the way. He posted one clip featuring audio of what appears to be a new song.
There had first been rumors of a WATTBA sequel last year when Future teased an unreleased Drake collaboration on Snapchat. “I got 20 damn Kylies,” Future rapped in the clip before Drake added, “I got 20 damn Kendalls / Young slim baddies and they’re in Vogue / I got 20 fuckin’ Gigis.”
The original What a Time to Be Alive arrived in September 2015 featuring production from Metro Boomin and Southside. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and spawned hits including “Jumpman.”
