Chris Brown is clapping back at a band who put him and Tyga on blast over their Marshmello collaboration “Light It Up.”
Indie pop group Chvrches recently called out Marshmello, who they previously collaborated with, for working with Brown and Tyga. “We are really upset, confused and disappointed by Marshmello’s choice to work with Tyga and Chris Brown,” the band wrote on Instagram Thursday (April 25). “We like and respect Mello as a person but working with people who are predators and abusers enables, excuses and ultimately tacitly endorses that behaviour. That is not something we can or will stand behind.”
On Saturday (April 27), Brown fired back with a savage response aimed at the band from Glasgow, Scotland, in the comments section of a different post on Chvrches’ Instagram account.
“BUNCH OF LOSERS. these are the type of people I wish walked in front of a speeding bus full of mental patients,” wrote Breezy. “Keep groveling over you own insecurities and hatred. IM BLACK AND PROUD. AND I KNOW ITS HURTS THAT U GUYS ARE STRUGGLING WIT LIFE OR PEACE SO U ARE FORCED TO SEE MY SUCCESS. You aren’t even #2 (REMEMBER 2nd place only means YOU LOST FIRST! TA-TA. GOODDAY PEASANTS.”
Tyga also left a comment on the band’s original post, writing, “Where all God’s children. Everyone makes mistakes no ones perfect. Let’s Keep the energy positive.”
Following the band’s statement, Chvrches frontwoman Lauren Mayberry received obscene messages on social media from Brown and Tyga fans, some of which she shared on her personal Instagram account.
Marshmello collaborated with Chvrches on “Here With Me,” which was released in March. Earlier this week, Marshmello dropped his latest single “Light It Up” featuring Brown and Tyga.
Chvrches’ comments are in response to Brown pleading guilty to assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. In 2015, Tyga settled a lawsuit for a reported $50,000 after a woman claimed she was sexually assaulted of set of his “Make It Nasty” music video.
