Sally Walker is here.
After much teasing on social media, Iggy Azalea drops her highly-anticipated new single. Produced by J. White (“Bodak Yellow”), the twerk-ready banger marks a return to Iggy’s mixtape roots.
Over trap keys, Iggy tells the tale of Sally Walker. “Little Sally Walker, walking down the street / She didn’t know what to do so she jumped in front of me,” she raps before showing out. “Watch me throw it back and toot it / They love how I do it / I’m the truth, you can’t refuse it / Plus my body’s stupid.”
“Sally Walker” marks Iggy’s first independent release since parting with Island Def Jam and signing a $2.7 million deal with EMPIRE last fall.
The Aussie rapper is now readying In My Defense, her first project since last summer’s Survive the Summer EP. Last year, she moved from Los Angeles to Atlanta to record the album, which she says is better than most of her previous work. “I’m really proud of my album,” she tweeted. “It shits on 95% of everything I’ve ever made & its only half done.”
The funeral-themed video for “Sally Walker,” which features cameos from the cast of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” will premiere Friday morning. Get a sneak peek below.
