The countdown is on to Bobby Shmurda’s release.
His mother, Leslie Pollard, recently visited her son behind bars, where he is serving a seven-year sentence for conspiracy and weapons possession. She has shared new photos of the 24-year-old rapper and provided fans with an update on his well-being.
“Great visit with my stinky…..the count down continues 22 months to go,” she wrote. “Chewy is in great spirits he sends his Love and he can not wait to be back to work.”
According to Mama Shmurda, Bobby will be released in December 2020, which aligns with TMZ’s report. Shmurda is scheduled to have a parole hearing in August 2020, and could be eligible for parole later that year.
He is serving time at New York’s Clinton Correctional Facility after pleading guilty to one count of third-degree conspiracy and one count of weapons possession. He was sentenced to seven years in 2016, but is expected to be released early due to time served.
He has been keeping busy behind bars. In addition to collaborating with 6ix9ine, he has been writing two movies. “He said he has two movies in his head that he’s working on now,” his mother told XXL in 2016. “He loves music but that’s something he was always interested in transitioning to. He loves the whole Will Smith thing. That’s something he’s very interested in, acting.”
During an interview from prison last year, Shmurda was looking forward to his release. “I got two years left,” he told ThisIs50. “2020, I’m coming out and fucking everything up.”
