Rae Sremmurd is forever.

On Saturday (Jan. 12), Slim Jxmmi took fans by surprise when he hinted that the group was over. “I’m not Rae Sremmurd I’m slim jxmmi and ima sink or swim by myself,” said one half of the “Black Beatles” in a series of since-deleted tweets. “Y’all won it’s a wrap.”

Following an outcry from social media, the group’s official Twitter account addressed the breakup reports, tweeting, “Brothers gonna be brothers, it’s SREMMLIFE forever.” It’s unclear if that means the group is staying together or if it was simply a show of solidarity.

While Swae Lee has yet to comment, Jxmmi did announce a new solo project on Instagram. “Rip slim Jxm,” he wrote. “2nd project Dropping 2k19.”

The duo, who released its latest album SR3MM in May, has been pursuing solo endeavors while continuing their work as Rae Sremmurd.

Just last year, they announced SremmLife 4, the fourth installment in their SremmLife series. “Me and Slim Jxmmi are coming together for another classic album, our fourth album. SremmLife 4 will come early next year,” Swae Lee told Hypebeast.
