Drake is five for five.
The rapper’s record-breaking album Scorpion tops the Billboard 200 for a fifth consecutive week. The 25-track set earned 145,000 equivalent album units (12,000 traditional) in the week ending Aug. 2, according to Billboard.
Scorpion now holds the most weeks at No. 1 for an album since The Weeknd’s Starboy spent five non-consecutive weeks atop the chart between Jan. 21 and Feb. 11, 2017. The last album to spend five weeks in a row at No. 1 was Drake’s own Views, which reigned at No. 1 for its first nine weeks. Views topped the chart for a total of 13 non-consecutive weeks.
But Drake will likely be dethroned next week when Travis Scott’s ASTROWORLD makes its debut. The Houston rapper’s star-studded album is expected to move 450,000 equivalent album units in its first week, reports Billboard. It will mark the third-biggest week of 2018 for an album, following Scorpion (732,000) and Post Malone’s beerbongs & bentleys (461,000).
The latter falls one spot to No. 3 on this week’s Billboard 200 with 62,000 units. Meanwhile, Juice WRLD’s Goodbye & Good Riddance rises 6-4 (39,000), Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy holds at No. 5 (38,000), and XXXTentacion’s ? falls 4-6 (38,000).
