Ahead of his new album Rolling Papers 2, Wiz Khalifa teams up with Swae Lee on his new single “Hopeless Romantic.”
Over the Young Chop production, the Taylor Gang boss serenades a special lady, while Swae provides his syrupy melodies. “My night runs into morning all the time,” he sings. “And through my phone I’m scrolling, bang my line / Off that drink, it’s hard to focus / Seems like I’m always chosen by romantics that are hopeless.”
During an interview with Ebro on Beats 1, Wiz spoke about collaborating with the Rae Sremmurd member. “I like Swae Lee,” he said. “He understands melody and all of that, so the creative process for this was just me and him talking to each other on the phone, trying to come up with an idea and a vibe. We just captured the fun and just picked it like that.”
Rolling Papers 2 was delayed while Wiz was trying to get out of his old management/production deal. The long-awaited follow-up to 2014’s Blacc Hollywood is now set to arrive July 13.
