Tee Grizzley is Activated. Following the success of “First Day Out,” the much-buzzed-about Detroit MC unleashes his star-studded debut.
Lil Yachty, Lil Pump, Moneybagg Yo, Jeezy, Lil Durk, and YFN Lucci appear over the course of 18 tracks. Meanwhile, Chris Brown pops up on two collaborations, including “Set the Record Straight” and “Fuck It Off.”
The JAY-Z-endorsed rapper recently spoke with Rap-Up about his camaraderie with Breezy. “Chris [has] been supportive of me and showing me love,” said Grizzley. “I was in L.A. one day and I had DM’ed him, like, ‘Bruh, I’m in L.A. Let’s work.’ Not even thinking he was gonna DM me back. He ended up writing me back, ‘Pull up to the crib.’ … We ended up making some fire ass music.”
Beyond these collaborations, Grizzley also worked with a team of producers to craft this effort. Chopsquad DJ handled a bulk of the production, while Helluva, London On Da Track, and others contributed production.
Recently, the Detroit rhymer explained the album’s significance. “My whole life I saw everybody else get shine. I saw everybody else get money, everybody else wanted to rap,” he said. “I saw them getting record deals and stuff like that. Every time I saw that it was, ‘Damn, I can’t wait until my time. My time is coming’. I was so patient and I finally got my time. I finally got my money, I finally got my fans and plaques, and my moment. When I got my moment, that’s when I Activated.”
Next up, Grizzley is readying a joint project with Lil Yachty, which is due later this year.
