Ariana Grande has “No Tears Left to Cry.” The pop princess makes a triumphant return with the lead single off her highly-anticipated new album.
Produced by Max Martin and ILYA, the empowering anthem finds Ariana picking up the pieces and moving on in the aftermath of tragedy. “Right now I’m in a state of mind / I wanna be in like all the time,” she sings. “Ain’t got no tears left to cry / So I’m picking it up, picking it up / I’m loving, I’m living, I’m picking it up.”
Ariana’s upcoming album, her first since 2016’s Dangerous Woman, marks her first release since the Manchester bombing at one of her concerts last year. The incident, where 22 people died and many more were injured, led to the Grande-led “One Love” benefit concert.
Rave reviews preceded “No Tears.” Insiders who heard it before its official release reportedly “openly wept at how she alludes to the bombing and how incredible the song is,” according to The Blast. Another source said that Grande brings up the bombing in “such a perfect, powerful way.”
“No Tears” is the lead single off Grande’s fourth album, which is reportedly her most personal yet. She tapped Pharrell Williams and Max Martin for production, but had a hand in writing all the songs.
Along with her new single, Ariana has released a stunning video, directed by Dave Meyers.
