Usher and his estranged wife Grace Miguel have announced their separation after two years of marriage and nearly 10 years together.
The R&B singer, 36, and music executive, 48, issued a joint statement to reveal the state of their strained relationship, which comes on the heels of a herpes scandal that spawned multiple lawsuits.
“After much thought and consideration we have mutually decided to separate as a couple,” they told Us Weekly. “We remain deeply connected, loving friends who will continue supporting each other through the next phases of our lives. The enormous amount of love and respect that we have for each other will only increase as we move forward.”
The couple, who wed in September 2015, has reportedly been separated for a couple of months. Neither party has filed for divorce, but that could be imminent.
Several people came forward last year, accusing Usher of exposing them to herpes through sexual contact. Usher reportedly paid an ex $1.1 million to settle a 2012 lawsuit. Shortly afterwards, he was sued for $40 million by another person who claimed he exposed her to herpes. Three more people followed suit with additional claims, including one woman, who said she had a sex tape of their encounter.
UPDATE: Two weeks before announcing their separation, Usher and Grace reportedly put their 4,261-square-foot home behind the world famous Chateau Marmont up for sale. The 5 bedroom, 6 bathroom crib is on the market for $4.2 million. They are also selling a 7 bedroom, 10 bathroom mansion in Georgia for $1.699 million.
