Coming off multiple Grammy nominations, Logic joins forces with Rag’n’Bone Man for “Broken People,” the latest single off the soundtrack to Netflix’s upcoming Will Smith-starring blockbuster, Bright.

Over haunting piano keys, Rag’n’Bone’s soulful singing kicks off the introspective track. “We’re broken people now,” he sings. “We’re burning out / So cold and bleeding now / Gonna let you down / We’re broken people now.”

With his tongue-twisting chopping in effect, Bobby Tarantino delivers a couple of verses to exemplify his personal fight for equality. “They know I do it for the people,” he raps. “I’m fighting so we be equal / For my son and my sequel / And anybody who listenin’ / In they system like venom / I get in ’em and spread viciously / This is me.”

Speaking with Beats 1, Rag said that the song wasn’t “the easiest track to configure” due to scheduling, but they were able to make it happen. “I really really [wanted] to be involved because I love the idea of the film and also Logic,” he explained. “So we crowbarred some studio time to get it done. I think the track is a real nice addition to the soundtrack and I think it fits the film really well. It feels epic and it’s nice to get back on a bit of a hip-hop vibe.”

He went on to praise Logic for his technical ability, which is showcased on the cut. “I love Logic and I grew up on those kind of technical spitters like André 3000 and Big Pun and people like that,” he added. “I love his style his use of syllables. He’s crazy good so it’s a real pleasure to be on a track with him.”

The accompanying graffiti-themed visual features scenes from Bright meshed with gritty views of Los Angeles. “Broken People” follows Machine Gun Kelly, X Ambassadors, and Bebe Rexha’s “Home,” as well as Bastille’s “World Gone Mad.” Migos and Marshmello’s collaboration “Crown” is slated for release next on Dec. 7.

Featuring A$AP Rocky, Future, Lil Uzi Vert, Meek Mill, Snoop Dogg, and YG, Bright: The Album is due Dec. 15, while the film hits Netflix Dec. 22.
