After making history on the Billboard Hot 100, Cardi B is now a Grammy nominee.
This morning, the former “Love & Hip Hop” star earned two nods for her chart-topping hit “Bodak Yellow,” including Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song. Taking to Instagram, Cardi celebrated the big news. “Two of them !!” she wrote. “Thank you Lord. I️ couldn’t be more grateful.”
In a separate since-deleted post, she added: “Well look at that. So many people try to descredit me …but songwriters? yeaa thats right CARDIB !!! I’m so and thankful for the nominations.”
The Bronx rhymer also noted the fact that Kodak Black is given credit on the song because “Bodak” was inspired by his “No Flockin” single.
“Oooo and for people who always be on dick, i never felt like had to give ya a explanation but i have and always gave credit to Kodak,” she wrote. “I mean if people use common sense the song is name BODAK YELLOW for a reason.”
“Bodak” is up against Big Sean’s “Bounce Back,” JAY-Z’s “4:44,” Kendrick Lamar’s “HUMBLE.,” and Migos’ “Bad and Boujee” for Best Rap Performance. It will also face off in the Best Rap Song category with Danger Mouse, Run the Jewels, and Big Boi’s “Chase Me,” “HUMBLE.,” Rapsody’s “Sassy,” and JAY-Z’s “The Story of O.J.”
The 60th Annual Grammy Awards will air live from Madison Square Garden in New York on Sunday, Jan. 28, at 8 p.m. on CBS.
