It’s a big week for G-Eazy. Yesterday, the Bay Area rapper unleashed the artwork and trailer for his album The Beautiful & Damned. Now, he unveils “The Plan.”
Over a thumping instrumental, Gerald flexes his dexterity with flows and multisyllabic rhyme patterns. “Always scrutinize, bags are supersize,” he raps. “Why are you surprised? / Must have mixed us with a different group of guys / Spot the truth in lies / I mean business but I’m not in suits and ties.”
Eazy shared the significance of his 20-song double album, which was inspired by F. Scott Fitzgerald’s book of the same name. “It’s about two people in love in the ’20s, when everybody was drinking too much, partying, and living this crazy lifestyle,” he explained. “They have this fantasy of living this over-the-top life, but realizing how hard it is to sustain in this crazy world they lived in. The ’30s were about to hit, but they didn’t know, with the Great Depression, everything was gonna be gone.”
Aside from “The Plan,” The Beautiful & Damned is set to feature appearances from A$AP Rocky, Kehlani, Cardi B, E-40, and Halsey. The project and film both arrive Dec. 15.
