Following last year’s back-to-back mixtapes, Another Day in Paradise and InZombia, Belly announces his next project, Mumble Rap, which features the Pusha T-assisted “Alcantara.”
Over the hard-hitting beat, produced by Boi-1da, the XO affiliate raps about shutting down demons and lakeshore penthouses.
“I don’t got sympathy for my own tears,” raps Belly. “Whole years, I was slept on by my own peers / In the crosshairs of the people that I hold dear / So scared, I had to conquer my own fears.”

King Push comes through, offering his coke boy punchlines and boastful taunts. “Take a moment to digest,” he raps. “I’m stuck on fast forward while most of y’all digress / I’m the best.”
During an interview with Beats 1, Belly explained why Pusha is the only featured guest. “Honestly, I wasn’t going to put anyone on it, but I did the record and I kept hearing him and it was the only one that I heard someone else on,” he explained. “The third verse section would start and I’d be like, ‘Man, Pusha needs to be on this.'”
Mumble Rap, which was executive produced by Boi-1da, drops tomorrow. “I just wanted to take the word back,” he told Zane Lowe. “A lot of the homies, those are guys I listen to, that I respect. Some of them are my friends. A lot of the younger generation in this shit are shaping lingo, dress code, they’re shaping so much and I don’t think they really get the credit. I wanted to snatch the word back. I want when people say mumble rap now, they’re going to think of this, one of the greatest rap projects ever put out. That’s what I want people to think.”
