Shortly after announcing her new album R.O.S.E. with a poetic video, Jessie J unleashes the symbolic black-and-white visual for “Think About That.”
The evocative clip opens up with Jessie on the ground. Drenched in sweat, the British songstress is tied down and surrounded by rose pedals. “You just laughed when I cried,” she sings, while writhing on the ground in black fishnets, a thong, sheer top, and leather mask. “Think about that.”
Enraged, Jessie takes to the streets where she tugs on her hair and screams into the camera. “Years of grinding, you took it, you broke it, all ’cause you faked it,” she sings while walking through smoke in the middle of the night. “You want to be famous, say it, you want to be famous!”
“Think About That” follows “Real Deal,” which dropped last month. Both are expected to appear on her forthcoming album R.O.S.E., which stands for Realizations, Obsessions, Sex, and Empowerment.
Jessie announced her first album since 2014’s Sweet Talker with a spoken word visual piece about her struggles within the music industry. “I don’t want to make music anymore,” she said in the clip. “I said that out loud. Wow. Then, I tried to stop and I didn’t know how to because it’s impossible to walk away from true love. Art, emotion, lyrics, music, feeling, it’s what I need to survive. Man, that pain woke me up. It’s inside out, you know? I don’t do this because I want to do it. I do it because I have to. I feel everything so deeply.”
To go along with the new video, Jessie also announced an 11-date world tour, which is set to kick off in Birmingham on Oct. 8. From there, the run will head to Manchester, London, Cologne, Amsterdam, Berlin, Toronto, New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, before wrapping Oct. 28 in San Francisco.
