Nicki Minaj continues her streak of features. After linking up with Fergie and London On Da Track, the rap queen goes gospel with “I’m Getting Ready,” a collaboration with soulful songstress Tasha Cobbs Leonard.
The 8-minute track is an epic dedication to being on the verge of glory. “Eyes haven’t seen and ears haven’t heard the kind of blessing that’s about to fall on me,” sings Leonard. “Victory is here, it kicked defeat out the door.”
Midway through the track, Minaj pops up for a religious verse that boasts about her resilience. “I serve a God that parted the Red Sea,” he raps. “Multimillion dollar commercials for Pepsi / From food stamps to more ice than Gretzky / I don’t gotta talk, the Lord defends me / I watched them all fall for going against me / Me and all my angels shot the devil up / While you was trying to pull me down, I leveled up.”
“I’m Getting Ready” coincides with Fergie’s “You Already Know” and London On Da Track’s “No Flag,” which also features 21 Savage, and Offset.” Earlier today, she also appeared in the video for Katy Perry’s “Swish Swish.”
Nicki is currently crafting her follow-up to 2014’s The Pinkprint while collaborating with the likes of Yo Gotti, Mike WiLL Made-It, Quavo, and Future.
