Eminem starred as a battle rapper in 8 Mile back in 2002. Now, he gets inspired by the culture once again, producing Bodied, a new film about the sport of verbal combat.

Joseph Kahn, famous for directing videos for Slim Shady, Dr. Dre, Taylor Swift, and Britney Spears, among others, is the film’s director. He also developed the script with Alex “Kid Twist” Larsen, a Canadian battle rap veteran-turned-screenwriter.

Bodied stars former Disney Channel star Calum Worthy, actor Anthony Michael Hall (Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club) and “MADtv” alum Debra Wilson.

Kid Twist — the first champion of the Drake-affiliated battle rap league King of the Dot — isn’t the only rapper involved with the film. Bodied also features battle rap luminaries like Dizaster, Hollow Da Don, Loaded Lux, Dumbfounded, Madness, Daylyt, Arsonal, Pat Stay, Charron, Big T, and Conceited.

According to the trailer, Bodied will deal with race, violence, and political correctness with relation to the controversial content that can be found in battle rap. It features a scathing and offensive verse from another former King of the Dot champion, Dizaster, who plays Megaton in the film.

Bodied is set to premiere Sept. 7 at the Toronto Film Festival.
