Macklemore is safe after a head-on collision with an alleged drunk driver.
The Grammy-winning MC was driving through Langley, Washington, an island town near his hometown of Seattle on Friday (July 28), when the accident occurred. According to TMZ, the alleged drunk driver’s pickup truck crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed into Macklemore’s vehicle.
Law enforcement sources say that the pickup driver was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash. As a result, he reportedly hit his head on the windshield and was knocked unconscious.
When questioned about the accident, the man reportedly said he had a drink “awhile back.” He was asked how much he had consumed, but the man simply replied, “5 o’clock,” according to the report. Washington State Police say that the driver was taken to a hospital and will be charged with driving under the influence.
Macklemore had two unnamed passengers in his Mercedes-Benz and only one of them was treated for a minor cut to the head. All of them were able to walk away from the accident.
The rapper, who is prepping his sophomore solo album, has not publicly addressed the accident. Last month, he released a pair of new singles, the Skylar Grey-assisted “Glorious” and “Marmalade” featuring Lil Yachty.
