As the world continues buzzing about a rumored Jay Z album that may or may not be dropping soon, Zaytoven provides some insight behind the music that Hov’s been cooking up.

During his visit to Rap-Up HQ, the multitalented producer opened up about the “Jaytoven” collaboration that he teased in November of 2016.

“Just meeting Jay and being in the same room with him, to even give him music was all that I needed,” he says. “It just made me feel so good and let me know that I was on the right track. I can’t say when any music of me and Jay Z is coming out, but we put some music together.”

The “monumental” moment showed him aspects of Jay Z’s work ethic and in-studio process. “He already had in mind what he wanted,” he explains. “He was like, ‘With Zaytoven, I want to get them pianos and I want to get them strings.’ That let me know he’s been listening and he knows what he wants.”

So, how does their collaborative work sound? “It’s just new, brand new,” reveals Zay. “It’s refreshing. It’s piano-driven but still hard-hittin’.”

It’s unclear when the Jaytoven tracks will see the light of day. In the meantime, fans are also waiting on the second installment of Future and Zaytoven’s Beast Mode mixtape series, which was slated for release last year.

“I’m hoping and praying that it really comes out this year,” Zaytoven tells Rap-Up. “I think me and Future have something so special with Beast Mode that I think it’d be a good time for it to come out this year. We’re working with Future’s schedule on that. I don’t know what his plans are. I think he probably planned to put it out last year but things just switched up and he didn’t put it out. ‘Used to This’ was for Beast Mode…But I guess he ended up putting out [Future and HNDRXX]. I think it should come out this year. I’m hoping it’ll come out this year.”

When he’s not in the studio with Jay Z and Future, Zaytoven is readying his own album, Trap Holizay, for release this year. In addition to the Gucci Mane and 21 Savage-assisted “East Atlanta Day,” the project is expected to feature Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Yachty, Migos, Future, and Jeremih.
