Nearly 21 years after Tupac Shakur’s death, Lil Durk says Future is this generation’s Makaveli.

Taking to Twitter, Durk sent a public message to Hendrix: “you the Modern day #2pac for the world.”

Pluto, who hasn’t responded to the tweet, compared himself to the late Rock Hall inductee on “2Pac” back in 2014. “I got a bandana ’round my head, like I’m Tupac,” he rapped on the Monster track. “Got a bandana ’round my head, screaming ‘thug life.'”

Durk also compared himself to Shakur in the past. “I feel like PAC,” he tweeted in 2014. Afterwards, he echoed this during an interview with VladTV. “I feel like ‘Pac,” he said. “[2Pac is] one of [the best to ever do it]. Him and Biggie. I’m even disrespecting, saying my name with that man name. I ain’t gonna lie…You will never be them.”

Other rappers have also compared themselves to Tupac recently, including Boosie Badazz, who announced his Shakur-inspired album BooPac, and Troy Ave, who released his Nupac project last month.

All Eyez On Me, a biopic about Shakur, is set to hit theaters June 16, on what would have been his 46th birthday.

Despite this high praise, it’s been a week of ups and downs for Future. His Friday (May 19) concert in Brooklyn ended in reported gunshots, though law enforcement officials discovered no evidence of gunfire at the scene. Hendrix is currently on his “Nobody Safe Tour,” which runs through June 30 in Las Vegas.
