New vintage! Lupe Fiasco ponders life’s options and what “Coulda Been” on the latest release from his vault.

Over a piano-laden beat, Carrera Lu thinks about the different paths he could have taken if he never picked up a mic. “I could be hustlin’ bags / Strugglin’ bad, if I wasn’t up in the lab,” he raps. “Shit, I just might be cuttin’ your grass / Walkin’ your dog, pumpin’ your gas / Or nothin’ at all.”

This journey continues throughout the track, as Fiasco wonders what his profession might be were it not for hip-hop. After weighing different vocations, including boxing, acting, and gardening, he realizes everyone has a path of their own. “Shit, I could be you,” he adds. “I could be him, he could be me, we all got a job.”

“Coulda Been” has a throwback vibe, which Lupe seemed to reference in a tweet. “New Vintage,” he tweeted, along with a link to the track.

This latest cut follows “Kneelin’ on Needles,” “ANKH:HER,” and February’s DROGAS Light. Up next, the Chicago MC is set to release two new albums, DROGAS and SKULLS.
