Ahead of its release next month, fans are getting another look at the Tupac Shakur biopic, All Eyez On Me.

Last night, the film’s cast introduced an exclusive scene from the film, which features Demetrius Shipp Jr. as Tupac and Kat Graham as Jada Pinkett, at the MTV Movie & TV Awards.

In the clip, a young ‘Pac professes his love for his high school sweetheart Jada. “You are the omega of my heart,” he reads from a poem he wrote. “The foundation for my conception of love / When I think of what a black woman should be / It’s you that I first think of.”

He continues: “You will never fully understand how deeply my heart feels for you / I worry that we’ll grow apart and I’ll end up losing you.”

Clearly touched with tears in her eyes, but hesitant to show it, Jada says: “That was aight. You ain’t even move to California yet and you’re already going soft on me.” Pac smiles. “Oh, I’m going soft?” he asks. “You got the tears in your eyes.” Then, they embrace.

The poem, titled “Jada,” was later part of The Rose That Grew From Concrete, a book released in 2000.

Pinkett and Shakur shared a special connection. Just last year, the actress paid tribute to ‘Pac’s late mother, Afeni Shakur, with a touching note on Facebook. “Afeni was a giant in her own right,” she wrote. “Today she is reunited with her son and [Tupac’s sister] Sekyiwa has two majestic angels to look after her. One for each shoulder. Rest in peace Afeni, and give Pac a hug and a kiss from me.”

Featuring Danai Gurira, Dominic L. Santana, Jamal Woolard, and Lauren Cohan, All Eyez On Me is due June 16, on what would have been Tupac’s 46th birthday.
