Co-chaired by Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry, and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, the annual avant-garde black tie affair brought out the biggest names in fashion and entertainment, all celebrating the theme of “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between.”
There were plenty of show-stopping looks. Rihanna ruled in a whimsical floral gown from Comme des Garcons’ fall 2016 collection, Zendaya turned heads in a Dolce&Gabbana Alta Moda baroque gown, Rita Ora was ravishing in a silk red ribbon dress by Marchesa, and Solange channeled Missy Elliott in a puffer jacket-inspired Thom Browne design.
Nicki Minaj, who will star in H&M’s upcoming holiday campaign, stunned in a black and red kimono with a lengthy train.

The fellas also represented. Jaden Smith stole the spotlight with his must-have accessory, his dreadlocks. Migos’ Offset, Quavo, and Takeoff made their Met Gala debut in Versace, Versace, Versace. Lil Yachty was head-to-toe in a white Moschino tux—complete with top hat and cane—while A$AP Rocky repped the “Raf Gang” in Calvin Klein.
Superstar couples also showed off some glamorous looks. In between dates on his “Starboy: Legend of the Fall Tour,” The Weeknd and girlfriend Selena Gomez made their red carpet debut. Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez were a dashing couple in Valentino and Tom Ford. Chrissy Teigen donned an embroidered lace Marchesa gown, while John Legend opted for a Burberry tuxedo.
While Katy Perry and Migos entertained guests with their new collaboration “Bon Appétit,” Kylie Jenner capped off the night by snapping her annual bathroom selfie alongside her sisters Kim and Kendall, plus Frank Ocean, A$AP Rocky, Paris Jackson, and Diddy.
