Say, say, say. It’s Starboy and Kung Fu Kenny!

The Weeknd surprised fans at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. on Saturday (Apr. 29), bringing out hometown hero Kendrick Lamar for the latest stop on his “Starboy: Legend of the Fall Tour.” Midway through his hypnotic set, the Canadian superstar performed the self-confident “Sidewalks,” while K-Dot emerged for his electrifying verse.

Once “Sidewalks” ended, it seemed like Mr. 1 Through 5 was done, but another surprise was in store. Instead of leaving, he launched into a solo performance of his No. 1 single “HUMBLE.” with the L.A. crowd chanting along to his “my left stroke just went viral” line in unison.

It was a highlight of the evening, which kicked off with opening sets from 6LACK, Belly, and Rae Sremmurd. Each of those openers also made an appearance during Abel’s headlining medley, with 6LACK performing “PRBLMS,” Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi performing “Black Beatles,” and Belly joining in for “Might Not.”

During his solo moments, The Weeknd was a maestro. Standing below an Es Devlin-designed spaceship structure, he expertly weaved through his catalog, performing hit after hit, including “Starboy,” “I Feel It Coming,” “Reminder,” as well as “Earned It,” “Often,” and “Can’t Feel My Face.” Once the show was over, he returned for “The Hills” as an encore.

This was the first of two back-to-back shows at The Forum. Tonight, The Weeknd returns for another evening before continuing on the North American leg of his tour, which runs through June 9 in Cincinnati.
