Snoop Dogg takes aim at his haters once again in the video for his latest single, “Promise You This.”
Directed by Dah Dah Baker, the visual features MC T, an aspiring rapper who goes broke and becomes homeless after being rejected by Snoop. Meanwhile, Tha Doggfather enjoys life in a lavish bedroom, on a private jet, and with his Snoop Football League players.
“This message is for anybody that feels like they contributed to my success and they feel like I owe them or I promised them something,” says Snoop. “Motherfucker, I’ma promise you this.”
Originally released last month, “Promise You This” is a single off Snoop’s forthcoming album Neva Left, which is set to feature Wiz Khalifa, Devin the Dude, Method Man, Redman, and a message from Kendrick Lamar.
“I never left the rap game, despite all the other things that I do whether it’s coaching football, doing TV, movies, my own television show GGN News Network — whatever it is I’m doing, I never left the rap game, like completely step out of it and leave it alone,” Snoop recently said at a New York listening session. “What I wanted to do on this record — and it was a spontaneous move — was to make a record to engulf every phase of Snoop Dogg that you’ve heard over the last 25 years.”
Neva Left, the follow-up to last year’s Coolaid, is due May 19.
