Kendrick Lamar’s left stroke just went viral and “HUMBLE.” shot to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. The lead single off the Compton rapper’s April 14 album soars to the second position on the chart, right behind Ed Sheeran’s inescapable “Shape of You.”
This is a special moment for K-Dot. It marks his highest-charting single to date as a lead artist and his first top 10 in that role. Prior to this, the highest he reached as the lead was No. 17 with “Swimming Pools (Drank).” As a guest, he’s hit the top 10 four times, including his appearance on Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood,” which reached No. 1 in 2015.
“HUMBLE.” is also the first rap song to debut as high as No. 2 on the Hot 100 in about seven years. The last MC to do that was Eminem with his Rihanna-assisted “Love the Way You Lie” single in 2010. Besides being No. 2 on the Hot 100, “HUMBLE.” also tops the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts.
Elsewhere on the Hot 100, Bruno Mars’ “24K Magic” shines at No. 3, KYLE’s Lil Yachty-assisted “iSpy” climbs to No. 4, The Weeknd’s Daft Punk-assisted “I Feel It Coming” dips to No. 7, and Kodak Black’s “Tunnel Vision” stays strong at No. 8. Finally, Clean Bandit rounds out the top 10 with the Sean Paul and Anne-Marie-assisted “Rockabye.”
